The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has emerged victorious in the recent election following a tense run-off, according to unofficial data from the state-run Anadolu Agency and the country’s Supreme Election Council.After failing to secure more than 50 percent of votes required for an outright win in the first round held on May 14, Erdogan received 52.14 percent of votes in the second round on Sunday, beating his rival, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who won 47.86 percent.

World Milk Day 2023

World Milk Day, observed every year on 1st June, was created in the year 2001 by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) to promote the consumption and benefits of milk around the world. The goal of this day is to provide us with a chance to raise awareness of and support in any manner possible initiatives related to the dairy industry.

The theme of World Milk Day 2023 is “Showcasing how dairy is reducing its environmental footprint, while also providing nutritious foods and livelihoods.”

India’s first polarimetry mission XPoSat

The Indian Space Research Organisation is collaborating with the Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru, an autonomous research institute, to build the X-Ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) that is scheduled to be launched later this year.XPoSat (X-ray Polarimeter Satellite) is India’s first dedicated polarimetry mission to study various dynamics of bright astronomical X-ray sources in extreme conditions. The spacecraft will carry two scientific payloads in a low earth orbit. The primary payload POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays) will measure the polarimetry parameters (degree and angle of polarization) in medium X-ray energy range of 8-30 keV photons of astronomical origin. The XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing) payload will give spectroscopic information in the energy range of 0.8-15 keV.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurates new Parliament building

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new Parliament building. He arrived at Gate No. 1, wearing traditional attire, and was greeted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Accompanied by priests from Karnataka’s Shringeri Math, the Prime Minister participated in a ceremonial “Ganapati Homam” to seek divine blessings for the inauguration of the new Parliament building. Vedic chants added a spiritual atmosphere to the occasion.The new building is located in the Central Vista area of New Delhi and is designed to accommodate the growing size and needs of the Indian Parliament.The new Parliament building has been designed to accommodate future requirements, with seating for 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 members in the Rajya Sabha.

New ₹75 Coin to Mark New Parliament Inauguration

The Ministry of Finance has announced the launch of a special ₹75 coin to commemorate the inauguration of India’s new parliament building.The newly minted ₹75 coin will feature the iconic Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar on one side, with the words “Satyamev Jayate” below it. The coin will bear the inscription “Bharat” in Devanagari script on the left side and “India” in English on the right. The circular coin will have a diameter of 44 millimeters and 200 serrations along its edges. It will weigh 35 grams and be composed of a four-part alloy, consisting of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc. The use of silver in the composition adds a precious and commemorative element to the coin.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is an intrinsic part of urban swachhata and the campaign Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar has transformed into one such historic movement led by citizens. Nearly 13,000 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) Centres that have opened nationwide so far, have witnessed more than 17 lakh citizens voluntarily donating their unused goods, old books, clothes, toys, etc. These items will be refurbished and recycled for reuse. For swachhta, citizens are going an extra mile to do whatever it takes to transform it into a jan andolan.

Reserve Bank of India withdraws Rs 2,000 notes from Circulation

The ₹2000 denomination banknote was introduced in November 2016. “Clean Note Policy” of the Reserve Bank of India, it has been decided to withdraw the ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation. The banknotes in ₹2000 denomination will continue to be legal tender. Exchange of ₹2000 banknotes into banknotes of other denominations can be made up to a limit of ₹20,000/- at a time at any bank starting from May 23, 2023. All banks shall provide deposit and/or exchange facilities for ₹2000 banknotes until September 30, 2023.

Rescheduling of Exam Dates for CUET (UG) - 2023

It was noticed that NTA has allotted 600+ km far exam centres to the CUET (UG) candidates of Jammu & Kashmir. Being sensitive to the needs of candidates and to facilitate the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating temporary Centres in Kashmir.
NTA has decided that CUET (UG) – 2023 will now be conducted from 26 May 2023 onwards in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
As far as Manipur is concerned the NTA has been advised to keep all examinations in the State of Manipur from 29 May 2023 onwards.
