NEET (UG) Examination 2023 - Overview
The NEET (UG) stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or, formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.
To create an umbrella or single entrance exam for all medical aspirants in India, NEET is conducted at national level by NTA (National Testing Agency).
Earlier, AIPMT used to be conducted by CBSE for the selection of candidates for admission into medical courses. In 2013, AIPMT and other similar Undergraduate level Medical Entrance Examinations were replaced by NEET.
